The exam is accessible during all Harvard College Placement Exam periods through the Online Placement Exams Registration (OPER) application. To access an exam first click the “Register” button for an exam. You will then receive an email confirming your registration that includes helpful exam information, and a “Start” exam button will then appear in a list of exams available to you. When you are ready to begin an exam, click the exam’s “Start” button.
Students with prior experience studying the language and who plan on taking their first course at Harvard within the language are required to take the language placement exam. This should be done before registering for the course. Instructors will ask for the exam result and students will need to change course levels if not enrolled in the appropriate level course. It is strongly advised not to wait until the start of courses because space in another course level is not guaranteed.
